DESCRIPTION:*** CFF plans to have an informational booth at the Blake Jones Trout Derby from 11:00 am – 4:30 pm — come by and say hi to us! *** \n\n\n\nEvery year\, nearly $10\,000 worth of cash and prizes are awarded\, including float tubes\, rods & reels\, gift certificates to local shops and restaurants\, and more. The Blake Jones derby is a blind bogey format with categories for adults and kids of all ages. In addition to the blind bogey awards\, there will be prizes for early bird registrations\, biggest fish\, and even prizes for those who choose to catch & release. Registration\, weigh-in\, and awards ceremony will be at downtown Bishop’s Eastern Sierra Tri-County Fairgrounds. Fishing locations include Pleasant Valley Reservoir and the Owens River near Bishop. The Bishop Chamber will arrange for supplemental stocking of fish purchased from Wright’s Rainbows before the derby. “We want to make sure there are plenty of fish for everyone\,” explains April Kress\, Event Coordinator at the Bishop Chamber of Commerce. “The derby is a real family-friendly fishing event. In addition to the fishing contest\, we’ll have information booths\, educational displays\, kids’ casting games\, activities\, and more\,” Kress added. \n\n\n\nBLAKE JONES TROUT DERBY RULES \n\n\n\n\nAll fish entered must be caught on the day of the derby.\n\n\n\nParticipants must catch and enter their own fish – up to five(5) total fish.\n\n\n\nAll fish must be weighed in/ checked-in BEFORE 3 pm at Tri-County Fairgrounds – no exceptions.\n\n\n\nPrizes will be awarded beginning at 4 pm\, winners must be present to claim prizes.\n\n\n\nAll fish entered must be caught in waters that are open for fishing as indicated by CADFW Regulations.\n\n\n\nAll participants must hold a current valid California fishing license.\n\n\n\nAll CADFW regulations apply. DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to announce the first Trout Rodeo “Juniors Bug Sling Off\,” which is a Youth Clinic and Fly Fishing Derby at the 2026 Trout Rodeo!! (Conducted as a collaboration between the Crowley Fish Foundation – CFF and the Southwest Council of Fly Fishers International – SWCFFI)   \n\n\n\nWe’ll be teaching kids ages 10 to 18 the basics of fly fishing in a round-robin clinic on Saturday morning\, February 7\, 2026.   \n\n\n\n\nFlyfishing Equipment and Basic Knots \n\n\n\nCasting a Fly Rod \n\n\n\nEntomology (Bugs) and Matching Flies\n\n\n\nFly Tying \n\n\n\n\nAfter the clinic\, the young anglers will head to a local stream to test their new skills and knowledge while fishing for local trout! We’ll be coaching the young slingers streamside. Afterwards\, there will be recognition and awards\, including prizes for First Fish\, Biggest Fish\, and Most Fish. The awards will be a set of trout flies and a fly box. \n\n\n\nRegistration: Please contact Carl Crawford at youth@swcffi.org to registerParent Responsibilities \n\n\n\nParticipating anglers aged 16 and older must have a valid CA fishing license on the day of the event! \n\n\n\nParents\, we’ll need your help and cooperation! We ask that you attend to supervise your kids during the festivities\, and you are responsible for transporting them to and from the fishing location.   \n\n\n\nWe will supply all the required fishing gear. Registration is limited to 15 youth anglers. The entry fee is $10. \n\n\n\nEach participant must dress appropriately for the weather and MUST wear protective eyewear or sunglasses!  \n\n\n\nA signed liability release form is required from each participant.

SUMMARY:Owens River Clean Up
DESCRIPTION:The California Waterfowl Association Owens River 11th Annual Clean Up is scheduled for Saturday\, November 1\, 2025. This is the eleventh consecutive year of this fantastic event. Put it on your calendar\, and plan to be in Bishop\, California for the fall colors\, and to give back to one of the Eastern Sierra’s blue-ribbon fisheries and its surrounding areas.  \nAll volunteers meet at the Pleasant Valley Campground at 8AM on the morning of Saturday\, November 1. Coffee and baked goods will be offered to all volunteers. Representatives from important conservation and fishing groups will be present. This is also a great social event. Volunteers are handed trash bags\, then divide and conquer to help clean up throughout the valley. Participants reconvene at noon for a lunch of Subway sandwiches\, chips\, cookies\, and cold drinks. There is a free raffle for participants. Event organizer Chris Leonard will take any swag that anyone would like to donate for the raffle. Food and beverages are sponsored by contributing organizations and casting clubs. This event doesn’t happen without the selfless support of sponsors. There are many contributors\, and no gift large or small goes unnoticed. If you’d like to help sponsor the event and/or donate swag for the raffle\, please reach out to event organizer Chris Leonard at 818.288.3271. Questions can also be directed to Chris Leonard.  \nNo RSVP to participate is required. Just spread the word\, show up\, and bring family and friends. Remember\, safety first the day of the event!
