CFF Partners with Bishop Paiute to Teach Fly Fishing

Last night, local guides Joe Contaldi, Jarett Coons, and I had the privilege of discussing the art of fly fishing with nine Paiute kids, ages 10 to 15, and their parents. This event marked the beginning of an exciting collaboration between the Crowley Fish Foundation and the Bishop Paiute Tribe, as we prepare to take these lucky kids fly fishing this Sunday. It was a fantastic opportunity to introduce them to the sport, share our passion for conservation, and build excitement for the upcoming fishing trip. The kids and their families were engaged and eager to learn, asking insightful questions and showing a genuine interest in the skills they would soon be practicing on the river.

The evening’s discussion covered everything from the basics of casting to the importance of sustainable fishing practices. We also highlighted the significance of the local ecosystem and how the Paiute Tribe’s deep connection to the land has influenced the way they approach fishing and conservation. It was an enriching experience for everyone involved, and the parents were thrilled to see their children gaining new knowledge and developing a sense of connection to nature. This collaboration with the Bishop Paiute Tribe is a wonderful opportunity to nurture the next generation of anglers while promoting environmental stewardship. We look forward to seeing these kids put their newfound skills into practice on Sunday, and we are excited about the potential for future partnerships in the community.
