The Crowley Fish Foundation congratulates Rob Hernandez, the first angler to report catching one of the ten specially tagged fish that were released into Crowley Lake at the CFF’s inaugural fish stocking on May 5, 2026. Rob caught the trophy rainbow on May 11, 2026 casting a midge fly. The trophy rainbow bearing CFF Tag #00002 was a “strong fish” that put up “a good fight” in the Sometimes Bay area of the lake. After the catch, he removed the CFF tag and safely released the trout back into the lake. Rob was guided by local fishing guide Sam Vasily.
As part of CFF’s trophy tagged fish program, Rob has won a 1/2 day guided trip donated by our local fishing guides who support the CFF. Congratulations again to Rob and we hope you catch another trophy on your CFF trip! Who will be the next lucky angler to catch a CFF tagged trophy fish and win a prize? There are nine more in the lake waiting to be caught. The tag should pop right off very easily — you can review the instructions on what to do if you catch a tagged fish here.
The CFF fish stocking program to benefit Crowley Lake and its tributaries is only possible because of the support of our donors. If you would like to help support our all-volunteer team with the CFF’s many stocking, education, community outreach and conservation events, please consider making a donation today.
