Crowley Fish Foundation (“CFF”) partnered with Mammoth Lakes Recreation (“MLR”) for yet another fantastic day of taking local youth out fishing, this time on Lake Mary on September 19, 2026. This is the second Mammoth area youth fishing event that CFF has hosted this year, following CFF’s youth fishing outing that was held on May 9, 2026. The first event was so popular that CFF hosted this second event to get even more lucky kids out on the water and to welcome fall season fishing in the Eastern Sierra.
Thirteen local kids, ages 9 to 18, fished from two pontoon boats and one metal boat under the supervision of nine adult volunteers. One of the adults present was Kim Anaclerio of Mammoth Lakes Recreation. Kim worked with CFF Board Secretary Chris Leonard to help organize this event. Other participating adult volunteers included CFF team members Jarett Coons, Jeff Rettig, and Hodges Glass. Also volunteering for the event were Paul Berkley, the parent of one angler, Mammoth High School administrator Guillermo Munoz who was joined by his wife Lynda, and Social Studies Department teacher Patrick Launspach. The kids received instruction and supervision with a variety of different methods including bait, spin, and fly gear.
The youth participants spent three hours casting lines and putting around on the water on a beautiful day on Lake Mary. The fishing was tough, but the group had a great time spending the time outdoors with friends and family. Said 4th grader Forrest Sicker, who was joined by his 6th grade sister Hayden, “Today was great! We had a lot of fun!”
When the kids returned to Pokonobe Marina, they found a delicious lunch of sandwiches and empanadas prepared by The Rolling Chef 395, purchased by Mammoth Lakes Tourism. Along with Mammoth Lakes Recreation and Mammoth Lakes Tourism, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power also helped to financially sponsor this event. The CFF also provided Hing’s Donuts for the group in the morning. It was a fantastic community event, inclusive of several important Eastern Sierra based organizations. The CFF recognizes and appreciates all of these supporters and adult volunteers who contributed to the success of the event.
